Today we have a new pattern for you! Zendesk Support wanted a more natural way to display their customer support team’s badges, as well as a place to hang plants without worrying that they would catch on the wires. We love seeing how other designers think and immediately knew we could help them!
How did we use our favorite knot to hang a plant holder?
We started with a sketch to create the outline of our project. We knew it would be a shirt hanger, so we drew a basic shirt hanger shape. Then, we added the cord and knots to the shirt hanger to create the knot for the plant holder. Next, we added the plant holder shape and sketched out the different dimensions of the holder. We also added the edges of the fabric to make sure it would fit nicely inside the sketch. After that, it was time to cut! We used our favorite cutting machine because it can cut curves perfectly and has an easy-to-use design.
What materials did we use in our project?
We used a blue-colored t-shirt, some white duck cotton fabric, a cord, a simple wooden mold, and a blue floral patterned paper to add a bit of color. The blue t-shirt was used to create a dark blue base. We used duck cotton fabric to make the fabric for the knot, a cord to make the knot, and also to give the fabric some thickness. We used a wooden mold to create the shape of the plant holder. The wooden mold can be found at any hobby store. The paper used for the design was a poppy print floral patterned paper. It was chosen to match the blue color of the t-shirt.
